What is Predictive Texting?

Predictive Texting is a facility built into many mobile phones that allows the phone to 'guess' the word you are trying to type.

Predictive Texting saves you having to press your mobile phone keys several times over to get the letters and words you want. Instead you just press the keys once and then go on to the next letter. Your mobile phone will then fill in (or predict) the word you are typing.

Predictive Texting is easy to switch on:
  • Select your mobile phone's menu and enter the text messaging facility
  • Open the dictionary
  • Select 'T9 (English)', and press 'OK'

Then send the message as you usually would - easy!

If the word you want to send is not the word predicted by your mobile phone, your phone will let you select alternative words....and will then recognize the word the next time you enter it.

And remember: Don't Panic! It is normal to be unable to recognise the word you are typing until you've finished typing, as your phone may not be able to predict the word you are entering until the last button has been pressed.
